Light me up

Imagine yourself waking up bright and shiny. Feeling like you’re in paradise, instead of your smelly bed. Just waking up fresh. How wonderful would that be?

It’s not impossible! What is it? Barcelona-based RCA alum and product designer Jordi Canudas created the ‘Lampp’. By placing the Lampp (which looks like a balloon) over your smartphone, the Lampp lights up (powered by the lights on your phone). Why is it cool? Lampp can affect your mood. So are you feeling stressed and want to calm down? Having a party and want to create a cozy atmosphere? Or do you want to wake up feeling refreshed, created by just one color? Use the Lampp.

Smartphone addicts

Every color has it’s own specialty which can improve your mood. You can download the Lampp-app to choose which color you’d like to have. But wait a minute. Probably the smartphone addicts already noticed this. They probably started panicking and ask questions like ‘’How long does this Lampp need to be put over your smartphone to let the light in? Five minutes perhaps? That’s a really, really long time!’’. This may sound a bit exaggerated because you probably did not notice this yourself.

These days it’s rare when someone is actually reading a book instead of checking Facebook. So the Lampp is actually a pretty good excuse to put your smartphone away for a while. Go for a walk or go read a book. Do something for yourself, and stop pleasing your Facebook friends. Because admit it, not all of your Facebook friends are actually your friends. Friends who are really interested in your life. They who can offer you more than a ‘Like’ once in a while.

Excuses

I think it’s healthy to put your phone away sometimes and realise your phone is not your life. Are your best memories created by your phone, or by real-life experiences? In short, the Lampp is a really good excuse to put your phone away sometimes. And don’t worry about being interrupted while enjoying your ‘disconnecting time’; the Lampp uses light to notify you when you’re being called or receiving a text.

Future

The Lampp is a bit expensive, but for the $40 it costs, you’ll get something great in return. It’s a great way to start an ‘offline’ future.
