Kicking it

Recently, the Edyn Garden Sensor was developed, by Yves Behar. It was first launched on Kickstarter to be sponsored by people around the world (Kickstarter is a website for new ideas which can be conducted if people donate some money). And then finally, after one year, the Edyn Garden Sensor was ready for sale.

What is it? The Edyn Garden Sensor is a tool for keeping in touch with your garden. ”Hmm, in touch with my garden?” I hear you think. But it isn’t as silly as it sounds.

So why is it cool? By placing the Edyn Garden Sensor in your garden, in the soil, it starts tracking stuff about the soil. Like the temperature, moisture and sunlight. And also a lot of other things which are important for the growth of your plants. The sensor is connected with your smartphone, via an App, so you can stay ‘in touch’ with your garden 24/7.

Save our plants

In this way you will know when to water your plants, or do something else. Because how many times have you tried to grow a cute little apple tree, but it already died after a week or so? Right. Too many times! I think the Edyn Garden Sensor is a great way to connect with your garden and let it survive! It is also a great concept for the future, because nowadays people are so busy, they almost forget they have a garden. I think that’s a shame because a nice garden belongs to a nice house. Maybe in this way the gardens won’t disappear in ten years.

Future

Allright, this new product is not going to ‘solve’ the problem that people are online 24/7. But it can possibly reduce it. Because who needs a smartphone if he or she can just feel happy being outside? Research has shown that gardening is great for your health, according to The Independent. It would reduce blood pressure, reduce stress and even let you live longer. So why waste your time scrolling on Facebook when you can create a whole new ‘world’ full of cute little plants and also get the health benefits from it? Gardening can also be fun together. Ask a friend to join you create a nice garden. In this way, you both will have a great time (because during gardening you can chat) and profit from the health benefits of gardening. And after you two have finished gardening and enjoy a cup of tea, you can track how your garden is doing (tracking the temperature etc.) by using the App! How wonderful can life be? ;)
