Tie 'm up

Back in the days we went to school and learned how to tie our shoelaces. We even got a diploma for being able to do it all alone. And man, we were proud. But that may change from now on..

What is it? Nike developed a shoe which ties its own shoelaces. Nike already developed shoes called ‘Nike mag’ for the film classic ‘Back to the future II’, but they were only available at some auctions. However, the time has come now and we’ll be able to wear this new invention. How awesome? Now I can hear you thinking ‘How can my shoe tie its own shoelaces?’. Well, I’ll explain to you. When you'll put on your shoe, a build in sensor will track that, and will react by pulling the shoelaces together. Sounds easy, right? These shoes are now called ‘HyperAdapt shoes’. They will be produced in three colours, and will provisionally only be available at the fitnessplatform Nike+. There is no price indication at the moment, but I don't expect them to be so wallet-friendly.

Why is it cool? I think these shoes are a big invention. Even though it doesn’t sound that hard to build in a sensor in a shoe, I think people will really appreciate this. It gives you those couple seconds (or sometimes minutes because shoes are sometimes so damn troublesome) back to enjoy your life to the fullest and focus on yourself instead of tying your shoelaces, haha.

On the other side, learning how to tie your shoes is (to me) a serious 'victory' when you are young. I’m afraid all these technological inventions (even though I would definitely buy these shoes) will trouble children to be raised purely. Everything has to be easy these days, and technology is being used for it. I think when children never have to struggle to learn things and everything is thrown in their lap, their identity might be a lot more superficial than ours. We had to struggle to get things done and I’m afraid they don’t have to when everything hard is being made easy.

Nevertheless, I think I have to save up some money because these shoes are going to be in my property soon, that’s for sure.
